Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects concentration, organisation, impulse control, and emotional regulation.
It is commonly diagnosed in childhood but can persist into adulthood — and sometimes, symptoms are only recognised later in life.
At Nova mentis clinic, we provide comprehensive ADHD assessments for adults, following evidence-based standards and Australian clinical guidelines.
ADHD Assessment
Treatment and Support
- Education about ADHD and coping strategies
- Therapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) or coaching
- Medication options, when clinically appropriate
- Lifestyle and organisational strategies
- Collaboration with your GP, psychologist.
Our aim is to help you understand your mind, build strengths, and enhance daily functioning.
Why an Assessment Matters
ADHD can affect work, study, relationships, and day-to-day functioning.
A formal assessment helps to:
- Clarify whether ADHD or another condition best explains your symptoms
- Identify strengths, challenges, and support needs
- Develop a tailored treatment plan, which may include therapy, lifestyle strategies, or medication management
What to Expect in an ADHD Assessment
Our assessments are comprehensive and individualised, typically involving:
- Clinical Interview: Discussion of your history, current challenges, and goals.
- Symptom Questionnaires: Validated ADHD and related screening tools.
- Collateral Information: Where possible, input from family members, teachers, or previous health professionals.
- Review of Previous Records: School reports, educational assessments, if available.
- Formulation & Feedback: A clear summary of findings, diagnosis (if applicable), and treatment recommendations.
Assessments are usually conducted over two appointments, depending on complexity.
Treatment and Support
If ADHD is diagnosed, your psychiatrist will discuss an individualised management plan, which may include:
- Education about ADHD and coping strategies
- Therapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) or coaching
- Medication options, when clinically appropriate
- Lifestyle and organisational strategies
- Collaboration with your GP, psychologist.
Our aim is to help you understand your mind, build strengths, and enhance daily functioning.
