Do I Need a Referral?
To claim a Medicare rebate, you’ll need a valid referral from your GP or another specialist.
- GP referrals are valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
- Specialist referrals are valid for 3 months.
Please ensure your referral includes:

You or your GP can send referrals via:
Your initial appointment allows time for a thorough assessment of your mental health concerns, history, and goals for treatment.
Together, you and your psychiatrist will develop a personalised plan that may include therapy, medication, or further review sessions.
Please bring:
- Your Medicare card
- Referral letter (if not already sent)
- List of current medications
- Any relevant medical or psychological reports
Cancellations and Non-Attendance
We understand that plans can change.
Please provide at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.
Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice, or missed appointments, may attract a late cancellation fee (no Medicare rebate). Timely notice allows us to offer the appointment to another patient in need of care.
